GEORGE TOWN: A 75-year-old man was killed after he fell into a ravine in Jalan Pokok Cheri, Bukit Bendera, on Tuesday night.

Cheng Seng Lee was said to be on his way back home from his farm at Penang Hill on a motorcycle where he was believed to have lost control of the vehicle.

Fire and Rescue Services Department search teams found his body at around 10.25pm some 25m down the ravine with his motorcycle on top of him.

Firemen who managed to retrieve the body about 11pm sent it to the Penang Hospital for a post mortem.

Northeast district police chief ACP Mior Faridalatrash Wahid said Cheng's neighbours downhill suspected something amiss when he failed to return from his farm about 3pm and alerted the authorities.

"He suffered serious injuries to his head," he said adding investigations were carried out under the Road Transport Act 1987 for dangerous driving.

In a separate incident, the body of an unidentified man was found by fish farm workers near the waters off Lebuh Macallum here about 9am today.

Mior said police believe the man was either in his 40s or 50s and that no identification papers were found on him.

He said there were no signs of injuries on the deceased while a post mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

"His fingerprints will be taken to help establish his identity," he said in a brief statement.
