SHAH ALAM: Dengue cases in Selangor more than doubled this year, with 48,691 cases reported from January till November as compared to 20,209 cases last year.
Selangor Mentri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali said the state government was working closely with the Selangor Health Department in combating the spread of dengue in the state.
He said the Health Ministry (KKM) had expressed concern over the situation and expressed its willingness to cooperate with the state government on the matter.
"Among the contributing factors identified is the high population density in Selangor apart from the lifestyle of foreign workers and students which are imported from their own countries.
"As such, KKM and the state government will focus more on preventive measures especially on disposal of solid waste which is another contributing factor," he told reporters here today.
