KUALA LUMPUR: The Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) is urging the government to speed up their review of 252 public servant service schemes, to help the employees cope with the rising cost of living.
Its president Datuk Azih Muda said at a press conference, the workers union have yet to receive feedback from the government on their demands over the scheme.
"These days, the cost of living is too high and workers are finding it hard to make a living," he added.
Azih said that a foreign worker in Malaysia earns RM90 per hour while a public servant earns RM40 per hour.
Azih added that a government staff earns between RM805 and RM820 per month, which is below the poverty level of RM880 per month.
"It is disappointing to know that civil servant's year end bonus which suppose to be given on Dec has been postponed to Jan 2015," he said.
