Malaysia's wushu squad bags another gold, silver medal in Palembang

PALEMBANG: Malaysia's wushu squad added another gold and silver to its medal tally today through the women and men's Dulian event at the 17th Asean University Games at Sriwijaya Promotion Centre, Palembang here today.
National athletes Phoon Eyin and Ng Shin Yii won the jury over to claim the gold medal with 9.12 points, above Nautueve Chue Vue and Yatho Thou Kalear from Laos, who collected 8.88 points.
Only two countries participated in the event. In the men's Dulian event, Koo Chee Zhong, Khaw Jun Lim and Wong Weng Son had to be content with the silver medal after collecting 9.59 points, behind host Indonesia's Eric Losard and Jodis who won the gold with 9.64 points. Sien Thiha Aung and Thuya Soe from Myanmar took the bronze after collecting 9.53 points.
The national wushu team has bagged two gold, three silver and one bronze medals as of today.
On Thursday, Phoon secured the gold in the women's individual Chanquan event, while Wong Weng Son (men's Chanquan), Ng Shin Yii (women's Taijiquan) and Loo Wen Kei (women's 56 kg Sanda) finished with a silver each; Loh Choon How collected a bronze in the men's Taijiquan event.
Meanwhile, National wushu coach Lim Yew Fai said he was pleased with the performance of his squad which had surpassed its one gold medal target. – Bernama
