KUALA LUMPUR: Integration and unity is the responsibility of all in ensuring Malaysia's success.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Tan Sri Joseph Kurup said this is to ensure economic, social and political stability besides infrastructural growth and development in the field of education.
"Political parties, non governmental organisations, associations and individuals must work hand in hand to achieve the objective of ensuring the nation's success while instilling an honest understanding among all Malaysians," Kurup said in his speech during the Usman Awang National Integration Award at Berjaya Times Square Hotel today.
He added that there are many individuals, associations and organisations that are formed based on a noble cause to help the people regardless of skin colour, ethnicity and race.
"These efforts should be an example for all to extend their cooperation and enhance their expertise in any field for the betterment of this nation," he said.
Kurup also wished to see the "Say something nice" campaign, which aims to promote peace and goodwill among Malaysians, to be an annual affair so the younger generation can benefit from it.
"I hope in years to come, the campaign will continue to instil positive vibes in our communities," he said.
The Usman Awang National Integration Award was created to recognise individuals or societies that strive to strengthen multi-racial ties and promote national harmony.
