MaGIC to produce more bumiputera start-ups
CYBERJAYA: Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan has expressed hope that at least 50 per cent of the business start-ups empowered by the Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (MaGIC) will be developed by Bumiputera participants.
"I think this target is achievable," Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan said at a media conference after the launch of the MaGIC Bumipreneur Engagement Plan (MaGIC Bumipreneurs) here today.
Also present were Treasury Secretary-General Tan Sri Dr Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah and MaGIC Chief Executive Officer Cheryl Yeoh.
Since the launch of the one-stop centre for entrepreneurs by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in April last year during US President Barack Obama's visit to Malaysia, some 10,000 would-be entrepreneurs have participated in its programmes, including Gathering of Rising Entrepreneurs Act Together (GREAT) and MaGIC Startup Academy. – Bernama
