KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is hoping for a miracle to happen when the national football squad meet Thailand in the return leg of the AFF Suzuki Cup final on Saturday.
Najib said he would be at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil to support the Harimau Malaya squad.
"Last night, the national team lost to Thailand but this Saturday, I will be there. Hopefully, a miracle will happen for us to bounce back, God willing. We pray for the success of our football team."
He said this in his speech when launching the Umno online membership registration system at the Putra World Trade Centre, here, today.
In the first-leg match at the Rajamangala National Stadium last night, the national squad lost to Thailand 0-2.
Earlier, Harimau Malaya under coach Dollah Salleh defeated Vietnam 4-2 in a semifinal match at the My Dinh Stadium in Hanoi and advanced to the final with a 5-4 aggregate, despite losing 1-2 in the first-leg semifinal at the Shah Alam Stadium. – Bernama
