Malaysia condemns attack on army school in Peshawar

    PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia has strongly condemned the attack on the Army School and Degree College in Peshawar, Pakistan which resulted in the loss of 141 lives, including those of 132 school children.

    In the attack on Dec 16, dozens of other students and educators were wounded.

    In a statement today, the foreign ministry said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had written to his Pakistan counterpart, Nawaz Sharif to express condolence and sympathy to the government and people of Pakistan, as well as bereaved families of the victims.

    It said the senseless killing and attack on school children for whatever reason, was uncalled for and inhumane in nature.

    "Malaysia as a peace loving country is against any kind of violent attack in the region."

    "We are ready to support Pakistan in their peace building efforts as Malaysia continues to promote the moderation agenda and mediation approach," added the statement.

    Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman has also extended a message of condolence to the special adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs of Pakistan. – Bernama
