PANAJI: US state of Hawaii has expressed interest to collaborate with Indian cinema, Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.

US Congress member and Democrat representative from Hawaii Tulsi Gabbard said during her visit here recently that Hawaii is interested to work with the domestic film industry and invited Indian filmmakers to shot films there.

Gabbard was in Panaji last Saturday to meet Goa Governor Mridula Sinha and Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar to discuss ties between the western Indian state and Hawaii.

"India has a very exciting film industry and I think this is an area where we can collaborate to bring Indian films to be shot in Hawaii because we have scenic vistas that can be used for these films," Gabbard said.

She said many popular TV shows and large projects like Jurassic Park and other films had been shot in Hawaii.

"We have a very exciting film industry in Hawaii. We try to bring investors because we have the opportunity for people who would like to make more of these kinds of productions," she said.

Gabbard said she had planned meetings with film producers and studios to discuss possible collaborations. – Bernama
