Night work noise warning

SUBANG JAYA: The noise from night-time work on construction of the LRT extension projects, which began recently, is expected to affect residents of nine neighbourhoods here until the end of December 2015.
Syarikat Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) said the work has to be done from 11pm to 5am due to space constraints and to conform to safety requirements and restrictions imposed by the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) and Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH).
The company's group communication executive vice-president Lim Jin Aun said the work carried out is highly risky, such as the lifting of large and heavy viaducts and installing the parapet wall.
The affected areas are SS14, SS15, SS17, SS18, USJ1, USJ2, USJ6, USJ7 and Saujana Residency.
"We ask for understanding and support from the residents to bear with the temporary inconvenience," he said, adding that Prasarana will monitor the noise levels.
"If it exceeds the level permitted by the Department of Environment, we will look at alternative means of doing the job," he said.
He also said a road diversion will be created to allow motorists to drive safely and to avoid traffic congestion.
Lim said the daytime working hours in some construction areas may be extended pending approval by MPSJ.

Subang Jaya assemblyman Hannah Yeoh said, before the extension of work time is approved, MPSJ and Prasarana will hold a town hall meeting in January for the residents to discuss the matter.
She added that Prasarana will inform residents of the date of the meeting via signages along the affected construction stretch.
On another matter, Prasarana said they may have identified the cause of flash floods in USJ 6.
Prasarana project development division (line extension project) senior vice-president Henny Shahril Kasiran said the company believes it is due to a blockage caused by rubbish in the drainage system at the Persiaran Tujuan junction.
He said Prasarana is currently working to clear the blockage to prevent flash floods.
