Sex fiend guard nabbed for molesting 12-year-old boy

KAJANG: A sex offender who managed to gain employment as a security guard despite his criminal record allegedly attempted to sexually assault a 12-year-old boy at the Kajang district hospital.
The 47-year-old man, who was employed by security company appointed by the Health Ministry, had been put on duty at the hospital.
Police said at noon on Sunday, the suspect followed the victim to a toilet. It is learnt that the boy, who had been admitted for injuries sustained in an accident, was about to ease himself when the suspect pushed him into a cubicle and stripped the boy of the robe he was wearing.
The suspect allegedly attempted to sodomise the boy but the victim managed to break free and ran out of the toilet. The boy alerted nurses who notified the victim's parents.
Sources said the victim's parents then lodged a police report at the Kajang district police headquarters and a police team arrested the suspect at the hospital.
When a background check showed the suspect had a record for molest, police were stumped as to how the man managed to secure employment as a security guard as it is compulsory for security companies to vet individuals who apply for such jobs.
Selangor police deputy CID chief ACP Rusdi Md Isa, who confirmed the suspect's arrest, said the man is under remand and is being investigated for molest under Section 377(d) of the Penal Code.
A Kajang Hospital official who declined to be named told theSun that a report of the incident will be submitted to the Health Ministry, with recommendations to take action against the security company.
"All necessary steps are being taken to ensure the safety of patients and a detailed report will be submitted to the Health Ministry for further action against the security company," said the spokesman.
