Pasak I Exercise to boost efforts to combat crime in ESSZone

    SANDAKAN: Efforts to combat any criminal elements in the Eastern Sabah Security Zone (ESSZone) has been further strengthened with the launch of the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom) Pasak I Exercise here yesterday.
    The exercise held at the Sandakan District Police Contingent's old quarters area involved 40 officers and 300 personnel from the police, Armed Forces, General Operations Force, Special Operations Force, Rapid Response Team, Special Task Force and the Fire and Rescue Department.
    Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Noor Rashid Ibrahim said the exercise was implemented to assess planning and to see the extent of its effectiveness, and if there were any problems or weaknesses, it would be immediately addressed.
    The exercise is aimed at exposing the officers and staff involved to the real scenario as a preparation for any untoward incidents, he told reporters after witnessing the attack-and-rescue demonstration during the exercise.
    Also present were Internal Security and Public Order Department director Datuk Muhammad Fuad Abu Zarim, ESSCom Commander Datuk Abdul Rashid Harun and Sabah Police deputy commissioner Datuk Malik Harun. – Bernama
