PUTRAJAYA: The Information Department today launched an aid mission to help flood victims in the worst-affected areas of Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang.
Its deputy director-general (strategic information), Mohd Sukari Ab Hamid, flagged off 30 four-wheel-drive vehicles carrying 60 staff of the department as well as volunteers from the 4X4 Amateur Radio Club.
The vehicles were loaded with foodstuff and clothing as well as colouring books for children at the relief centres," he said after flagging off the convoy at the Communications and Multimedia Ministry here.
Mohd Sukari said the staff and volunteers would help with evacuation or cleaning up in the worst-affected places, such as Bachok in Kelantan, Kemaman and Hulu Terengganu in Terengganu and Kuantan in Pahang.
He said that other than performing community work, the mission members would also help the district disaster relief committees to gather, manage and distribute aid. The mission was expected to be in the flood-hit areas until Wednesday, he said. – Bernama
