More flood evacuees recorded in Pahang, Johor last night

    KUALA LUMPUR: The numbers of flood evacuees in Pahang and Johor continue to rise last night, while the numbers in Kelantan, Terengganu and Perak were on the decline.

    In PAHANG, the number of flood evacuees recorded at 264 relief centres in eight districts increased slightly to 51,484 people tonight from 51,434 recorded yesterday evening.

    Spokesman at the Pahang police contingent flood operations room said Temerloh still recorded the highest number of evacuees with 21,284 at 65 relief centres.

    Seven other flood-affected areas in the state were Pekan with 10,441 evacuees, Jerantut (5,674), Maran (4,098), Kuantan (3,852), Lipis (3,090), Bera (2,879) and Rompin (166).

    In JOHOR, the number of people evacuated due to floods rose to 153 people from 43 families, compared to 148 people from 41 families recorded yesterday evening.

    In KELANTAN, the number of flood evacuees recorded at 255 relief centres in the state dropped to 110,747 people from 28,880 families last night from 158,476 people recorded at noon yesterday.

    Kelantan Social Welfare Department director Nik Omar Nik Abdul Rahman said Kota Baharu still had the most number of evacuees with 25,750 people, followed by Tumpat (24,748), Kuala Krai (23,500), Tanah Merah (19,440), Machang (7,801)Gua Musang (6,493) and Pasir Mas (3,015).

    In TERENGGANU, the number of people taking shelter at relief centres dropped to 24,894 last night from 24,962 recorded yesterday evening.

    According to the State National Security Council's (MKN) portal, Kemaman still has the most victims with 15,827, followed by Dungun (8,815), Kuala Terengganu (213) and Hulu Terengganu (39).

    In PERAK, the number of people evacuated in Central Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Hulu Perak and Kerian dropped to 7,577 last night from 7,762 recorded yesterday evening.
    Perak MKN spokesman said three relief centres has been closed, leaving the total to 54, sheltering 4,717 evacuees in Central Perak, 1,748 in Kuala Kangsar, 794 in Hulu Perak and 318 others in Kerian. – Bernama
