Datuk survives night shooting attack

    KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Athletic Federation (KOM) vice-president Datuk Noorul Ariffin Abdul Majid (pix) was shot by two individuals at his house in Bandar Rahman Putra, Sungai Buloh on Wednesday night.
    He survived with two bullet wounds to his leg.
    Sungai Buloh police chief Supt Junaidi Bujang said at about 10pm two men on a red motorcycle drove by and opened fire when he returned home from a surau nearby. Two of the bullets hit Noorul Ariffin's leg.
    Family members rushed him to the Sungai Buloh Hospital.
    Initial investigations revealed that the victim received a threatening letter about a month ago.
    Police recovered four 9mm bullet casings in front of the victim's house.
    The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempting to murder.
    Meanwhile, Bernama said a local man was injured after being shot near a supermarket in Sungai Siput on Wednesday night.
    State CID chief Datuk Mohd Dzuraidi Ibrahim said the victim was riding a motorcycle at 9.50pm when two men on a Honda EX5 motorcycle fired three shots at him.
    "The 26-year-old was injured on the right arm and back," he told reporters here, today.
    He said the victim was sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for treatment and the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
