Three more victims identified in AirAsia crash

KUALA LUMPUR: The Disaster Victim Identification Police Department of the Republic of Indonesia (DVI POLRI) yesterday confirmed that the remains of three more victims of the AirAsia Indonesia QZ8501 crash have been identified, including a flight attendant.
They are Grayson Herbert Linaksita (male), Kevin Alexander Sutjipto (male) and Khairunisa Haidar Fauzi (female), who had been with AirAsia Indonesia since Jan 28, 2013.
AirAsia Indonesia in a statement said to date, the DVI POLRI team had identified four remains of the QZ8501 victims. A total of 22 remains of QZ8501 passengers had been recovered so far, it said.
According to the statement, the handover of the remains to the families took place earlier yesterday at the Bhayangkara Hospital in Surabaya.
AirAsia group chief executive officer (CEO) Tan Sri Tony Fernandes together with AirAsia Berhad executive chairman, Datuk Kamarudin Meranun and AirAsia Indonesia CEO, Sunu Widyatmoko flew to Palembang today to officially hand over the remains of Khairunisa to her family and attended her burial.
AirAsia urged the public seeking for progress on the search and evacuation of QZ8501 victims to refer solely to official information from the National Search and Rescue Agency.
"Our thoughts and prayers remain with the families and friends of our passengers and colleagues on board QZ8501," said the statement.
The AirAsia Indonesia plane, flight QZ8501, vanished from radar screens on Dec 28 while en route to Singapore from Surabaya, Indonesia, with 155 passengers and seven crew members. It crashed in the waters off Pangkalan Bun, central Kalimantan in Indonesia. – Bernama
