SUBANG JAYA: The bad road condition caused by the LRT construction sites in Puchong has come under fire with the area Member of Parliament urging the local authority and the developer to rectify the problem before it poses danger to commuters.
Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo, who accompanied reporters on a walkabout to the sites with Subang Jaya Municipal Council and Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB) officials on Tuesday, said the poor condition of these roads posed danger and inconvenience to the public .
"I understand that most areas are undergoing construction, but developers have to ensure that the drainage system is properly constructed beforehand to avoid water clogging," he said as he showed the many potholes on the road at the construction sites.
Gobind was especially unhappy with the situation around Puchong Permai and Jalan Batu 12 and expressed his disappointment with the MRCB LRT construction management.
With the rainy season seeing no end, the Puchong MP is aware mud water puddles will be formed and worse, clog the residential area pipe system.
"I also request MRCB to ensure all roads affected by LRT construction are safe and in good conditions," he said after the site visit.
Gobind applauded MPSJ for its initiative and concern as a local authority in heeding the call.
"I am happy that the local council is giving importance to the basics. For the past six months, I have been receiving numerous complains on this issue and the action taken in resolving it is not good enough," he said, hoping MRCB would rectify this issue soon.
Earlier, Kinrara assemblyman, Ng Sze Han who joined the inspection echoed his sentiment and urged the authorities to take action before it gets worst.
"I think ample time has been given for the construction management to take action on damaged roads and drainage problems. It is about time to make the rectifications," he said.
Also present was MPSJ president Datuk Nor Hisham Ahmad who hoped MRCB will take action in rectifying the damage soon.
"Problems need to be solved and working together is the only solution. So we hope MRCB will take this situation seriously and repair work must be carried out according to specifications," he said.
