Helping students a priority for Sabah government

SANDAKAN: Aid for students to ease the burden of parents and guardians will remain a priority to the Sabah government, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman.
He said the state government was aware of the burden of parents to send their children to school, and as a result, it always sought the best approach to help them.
Musa said the aid which had been implemented included waiving school fees, early schooling special aid, 1Malaysia Book Voucher and school feeding aid programme.
"Efforts to help parents will continue to be increased, not only via the allocation of the federal government but the state government as well, by the latter giving aid wherever it can," he told reporters after a 'Return to School' programme organised by the Umno Libaran Division Education Bureau here today.
In the programme, a total of 200 students received early schooling special aid of RM100, while 200 others received school bags.
According to Musa, the state government and the federal government had established close cooperation in implementing educational development in the state.
In this regard, he wanted parents to play an important role in ensuring their children succeeded in education by closely cooperating with schools and the government. He said it could also be done via their active involvement in parent-teacher associations. – Bernama
