BUKIT MERTAJAM: Investigators will know in the coming days whether the charred body of a man found last week is the businessman with the "Datuk Seri" title who was reporting missing by his family.
Penang police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi said DNA samples have been taken from the brother of the businessman and those have been sent for analysis.
"The result will be out in four or five days," he said when asked about the case in a press conference yesterday.
The family of a businessman lodged a police report after he could not be contacted over the past few days.
Investigations are now focused on determining the identity of the badly burnt body which was found at a forest in Lumut, Perak, on Saturday afternoon.
Abdul Rahim declined to speculate that the body was that of the businessman, saying police were still investigating both incidences.
He said police as yet could not determine any link between both cases and stressed the forensics department was working on the matter.
"We do no want rumours going around saying they are the same person," he added.
Abdul Rahim said the police have yet to detain anyone in connection with the case which is being investigated for kidnapping under Section 363 of the Penal Code.
