Takaful Malaysia chips in to help flood- stricken victims

PETALING JAYA: In line with Takaful Malaysia's brand promise – "We Protect, We Care, We Share," – Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Bhd (Takaful Malaysia) today contributed RM150,000 to theSun Cares Fund to supplement resources required for disaster relief operations in aid of flood victims.
"We truly hope this contribution will help in the recovery from the floods and ease the burden of the victims. It is our way of continuing our proud legacy of always lending a hand in uplifting the lives of the unfortunate," said Takaful Malaysia group managing director Datuk Mohamed Hassan Kamil.
"As an insurer, we have first-hand experience of seeing how devastating the impact can be on the livelihood of the victims struggling to cope after the recent disaster. The full devastation is often realised after the flood waters recede, and we would like to contribute to the post-flood aid efforts," he added.
Mohamed Hassan said as corporate social responsibility (CSR) has always been an integral aspect of the company's corporate initiatives, Takaful Malaysia is always looking for opportunities to contribute to the community under its CSR umbrella "Takaful myJalinan Kasih".
He said Takaful Malaysia will carry on supporting noble initiatives that are beneficial to the community and will always lend a hand where possible.
Takaful Malaysia's head of corporate communications, Mala Patmarajah, presented a mock cheque to theSun managing editor Freddie Ng at theSun office today.
"We saw the efforts carried out by theSun the last few weeks; we saw the coverage in the papers and we wanted to be part of such initiatives. That was the reason we (Takaful Malaysia) chose to donate to theSun Cares Fund," Mala said.
In thanking Takaful Malaysia for the contribution, Ng said theSun Cares Fund was gratified to receive a boost for its work in aid of flood victims.
"We feel encouraged to do more, as not only have our efforts to help flood-stricken victims been noticed, they are also actively supported by a caring corporation that has contributed money to supplement our resources for such disaster relief work," he said.
Ng said his team will be going out to the east coast again this weekend to distribute more aid to help flood victims get back on their feet.
theSun Cares Fund has donated over RM150,000 worth of aid to flood victims in various areas in Pahang and Perak since early this month.
