Federal Territory Day celebrations to be modest this year, says Tengku Adnan

PUTRAJAYA: The Federal Territory Day celebrations on Feb 1 this year will be held on a moderate scale as part of cost saving measures, said Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.

"We hope that the allocation could be utilised for other programmes when needed," he said adding that this year's celebrations themed 'My Cheerful Territory' was based on a sense of belonging to the Federal Territories.

He said the theme also highlighted elements of solidarity built to foster tolerance among each other as well as inspiring the neighbourhoods in the Federal Territories to remain cheerful, clean and beautiful.

Speaking on the spirit of patriotism shown by Indonesians during their national day, Tengku Adnan said "This spirit should also be inculcated among Malaysians," after attending the 'Cheerful Measures Programme @ Putrajaya' in Presint 3, Putrajaya here, today.

Also present were Federal Territories Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Adnan Md Ikhsan and Putrajaya Corporation president Tan Sri Aseh Che Mat. – Bernama
