Flight and ferry services in Penang operate as normal despite haze

GEORGE TOWN: Flights and ferry services in Penang remain in operation although the state woke up to the haze today.
Malaysian Airport Berhad (MAB) senior manager Ariff Jaafar said operations at the Penang International Airport (PIA) continued as usual.
"Operations at PIA are as normal," he told theSun when contacted.
Meanwhile, a Penang Port spokesman said the ferry services continued on their daily crossings.
"So far the operation is going well and running as usual," he said.
Despite the hazy conditions, a check of the Department of Environment (DOE) website showed moderate Air Pollution Index (API) levels for Penang.
The Prai station recoded an API of 55, while Seberang Jaya and USM recorded API of 64 and 66 respectively as at 2pm.
The Meteorological Department recorded visibility at 7km for Bayan Lepas, 5km for Butterworth and 7km for Prai as at 2pm.
