PETALING JAYA: MIC president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel (pix) showed a decisive streak today by removing his detractors from key party posts.
In a statement to the media, Palanivel said all the changes will take effect immediately as he had already issued letters to those involved.
"Tan Sri Ramasamy Muthusamy will be taking over as the chairman of the Perak state liaison committee from me," he said.
He added central working committee member Datuk Ganesan Arumugam will be taking over the position of Datuk S. Sothinathan, who is MIC vice-president, as the Negri Sembilan state liaison committee chairman.
"Sothinathan has very magnanimously agreed to relinquish his position as Negri Sembilan chairman at my request to concentrate at the national level," he said.
Other changes include the position of Federal Territories liaison committee chairman, with Datuk Rajoo Vyraperumal replacing Datuk M. Saravanan, who is party vice-president.
"Dr V. Nedunchelian will take over the previous position of Rajoo as the Federal Territories liaison committee deputy chairman," he said.
"I had also appointed Jacob Samuel as the new Selangor state liaison committee secretary, replacing K. Parthiban," he added.
Palanivel said there would also be changes in the respective state liaison committees which will be announced by their respective chairmen.
He added his decision was part of the party's move to introduce changes to make MIC more vibrant and dynamic and to focus its vision on the Indian community in Malaysia.
