Man, 56, dies in a fire at his home in Banting

    BANTING: A Kuala Langat District Council employee who would have retired at the end of this year, died in a fire at a double-storey house he was living in at Taman Langat Jaya, Sungai Manggis here today.
    Banting Fire and Rescue Station head, Jazlizad Jalil said the department received an emergency call at 9.17am and rushed to the location five minutes later.
    He said upon arrival at the scene, firemen found the victim identified as Joseph Louis, 56, had suffered 80% burns before being pronounced dead by Banting Hospital.
    "In the incident, the victim who was married, lived alone in the house and firemen had to break down the main door which was locked, to extinguish the fire.
    "Initial investigations found the victim had problem walking," he said.
    He said the operation, which was carried out by 10 firemen from Banting and KL International Airport stations, was completed at 11.58am.
    The cause of the incident and value of losses are still under investigations. – Bernama
