IPOH: Two men were killed and a teenager was badly injured after the lorry they were travelling in rammed the rear of a trailer lorry at Km266.1 (south-bound) of the North-South Expressway here at about midnight last night, police said today.
Ipoh Public Order and Traffic Police chief DSP Wan Shaharuddin Wan Omar said the dead were the lorry driver, M. Nagalinggam, 49, and another man identified only as Yusri, 20, while the injured teenager was Mohd Saiful Nazri Noor Affandy, 19.
He said Nagalinggam died on the spot while Yusri died at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital.
Mohd Saiful Nazri was admitted to the same hospital, he said when contacted by Bernama.
Wan Shaharuddin said the lorry was carrying cans of paint, many of which scattered on the road following the accident and resulted in a traffic congestion for several hours from the Menora tunnel to Km266.1.
The two men and the teenager were trapped in the lorry and were removed by fire and rescue personnel from the Ipoh and Kuala Kangsar stations, said a spokesman of the Meru Raya Fire and Rescue Station. – Bernama
