GEORGE TOWN: Police seized 190 simulator machines with gambling features worth RM950,000 in raids at five family entertainment centres here early today.
One hundred and seventy-two customers and 28 workers of the outlets aged between 18 and 70 were arrested in the three-hour operation at Lorong Madras, Persiaran Gurney and Pulau Tikus which ended at 2 am today.
In the operation conducted by Bukit Aman Special Task Force for Anti-vice, Gaming and Gangsterism (Stagg) and Penang Police Contingent Headquarters, cash amounting to RM15,949 and tokens worth RM44,980 were also seized.
Stagg principal assistant director SAC Khairi Ahrasa said the premises possessed license from the local authority, but investigations revealed that the machines worth about RM5,000 each, illicitly contained features for gambling.
