KUALA LUMPUR: PKR reformation movement Jingga 13's head Fariz Musa and Parti Sosialis Malay (PSM) secretary-general S. Arutchelvan are the latest individuals who are under police investigations for allegedly making seditious comments following the Federal Court's verdict on Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Tuesday.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said today that Fariz was reported to have allegedly called on Anwar's supporters to be prepared to overthrow the government by carrying out street protests.
He said Arutchelvan would be investigated for allegedly claiming the verdict on Anwar's case was politically motivated.
He said Penang state exco and PKR deputy Youth chief Dr Afif Bahardin will also be hauled up for allegedly making a similar call to Anwar's supporters.
Afif had also allegedly said that the public should cease to trust the Malaysian judiciary.
"I had issued the warning, now it is time to enforce the law against those who breach and attempt to breach public order. They will be investigated for instigating the people to take to the streets," Khalid told theSun when contacted.
Late on Tuesday, political cartoonist Zulkiflee SM Anwar Ulhaque, popularly known as Zunar, was picked up by police at his house in Pantai Dalam.
Kuala Lumpur CID chief SAC Zainuddin Ahmad said today the cartoonist was remanded for three days for investigations under Section 4(1)(c) of the Sedition Act.
Zunar had allegedly posted on Twitter that the Federal Court judges in Anwar's case were paid off to pass a verdict in favour of the government.
Two others who landed themselves in hot soup for their tweets were Taiping MP Nga Kor Ming and PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli who is also Pandan MP.
Nga had allegedly said that the public should "oppose the cruel regime" over Anwar's imprisonment while Rafizi had insinuated the judges in the case were corrupted by the government.
Khalid who came across the messages had tweeted that the politicians were courting trouble and ordered the Police Cyber Investigations Response Centre (PCIRC) to initiate investigations against them.
He said except for Zunar, the five politicians are yet to be held or called up for questioning.
