IPOH: Police arrested three youths hours after a 53-year-old woman, the wife of traffic police personnel Sallehuddin Hassan, was found dead with a stab wound on the neck at her house in Taman Tanjung Emas, Tanjung Rambutan, near here today.
One of the suspects, aged 17, an unemployed, is said to be a neighbour of the deceased who took him as an "adopted child" and often had his meals at the house.
The other suspects are a Form Four student and a lorry attendant.
In the incident which occurred between 2am and 3am, the body of Izaah Abdullah a housewife, was found in a pool of blood in a room by her son, Zulfadhli Salehuddin, 27, who returned home after closing his business in Silibin.
No valuables or cash were taken from the house but a piggy bank and two handphones were recovered from one of the suspects.
Perak police chief Datuk Osman Salleh said the teenagers aged between 15 and 19 were arrested between 5am and 6am following a tip off to facilitate investigation.
"We believe the deceased was forcibly covered with a pillow to avoid a struggle before she was stabbed on the neck.
"A post mortem report showed the cause of death was due to excessive bleeding."
He also said police have recovered a knife believed to be the weapon used in the incident.
"We are still investigating the motive."
The case is being investigated under Section 302 for murder.
