KUALA LUMPUR: The federal police commercial crimes investigations department (CCID) is tracing four individuals who threatened to attack courthouses before midnight on Wednesday in a video clip, filmed in "Al Qaeda militant" style.
The 76-second video clip, posted on YouTube.com on Sunday, shows four individuals who call themselves Anak Muda Malaysia or Youth of Malaysia, wearing black clothing and ski masks. A Malaysian flag is draped behind them.
The spokesman is seen seated at a table where Molotov cocktails are placed, and is holding up a paper with a photograph of actress Nora Danish.
Speaking in Bahasa Malaysia, the spokesman directed his message to "all parties who have ruled the country for too long".
He said democracy in Malaysia had been manipulated and the group had lost hope in the country's system.
"As a show of our protest on the country's judiciary, we will start with an attack on courthouses by burning fireworks on Feb 18 at 11.30pm. We have just begun, and (we) will go further. The more you destroy democracy, the further we will go and strike even harder," he said.
The video ended with all four men showing their middle finger and swearing a four-letter word.
Federal CCID director commissioner Datuk Mortadza Nazarene said investigations are underway.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said police viewed the case very seriously and those who attempt to destroy the peace and tranquillity of the country will face the full brunt of the law.
Meanwhile, Nora, who was shocked to see her photo in the video, lodged a police report with Ampang Jaya police at 4pm denying any involvement with the group. It is also learnt that courthouse officials in Putrajaya had also lodged a police report after viewing the video.
Ampang Jaya police chief ACP Khairuldin Saad said Nora's report was handed over to Wangsa Maju police for further action as she had viewed the video at the district.
He said the the case is being probed for "carrying out activity that threatens and is detrimental to the country's democracy" under Section 124C of the Penal Code and police are tracing the individuals in the video.
He urged those with information to come forward and assist police in the investigations.
