Police arrest seven men, seize two pistols

    ALOR STAR: The police in Kedah arrested seven men including an Indonesian two days ago, seizing two semi-automatic Glock pistols and 40 bullets.
    State Police chief Datuk Zamri Yahya said a suspect who was wanted in Selangor for several house break-ins was also arrested during the raid at a motel at 12.10am.
    "Three of the men arrested had previous criminal records," he said during a press conference at the Kedah Police Headquarters, here today.
    All the seven suspects he said, were aged between 26 and 55, and were remanded for seven days beginning Feb 14.
    According to Zamri, the raid also saw the seizure of two cars which were reported missing in Negri Sembilan and Malacca, along with face masks, clothes bags, personal documents, knives, hammers and several pawn shop receipts.
    He said the case was being investigated under Section 8 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971, which carries a jail sentence of up to 14 years and six strokes of the cane if convicted.
    For the possession of ammunition he added, the case was being investigated under Section 8(a) of the Firearms Act 1960, which carries a jail term of seven years or a fine of RM10,000 or both. – Bernama
