TEGUCIGALPA: More than 70 people were injured by a series of gas explosions at an agricultural fair in the Honduran capital Friday, rescue workers said.
Several people suffered third-degree burns at the popular annual event attended by tens of thousands of people in Tegucigalpa, hospital sources said.
The blasts were apparently caused by a gas leak in the cooking area of the fair.
Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez met with victims and relatives, and offered to pay the costs of treatment.
Dozens of volunteers responded to a plea from authorities to donate blood for the victims, local media reports said. – dpa
