Senior citizen dies after assault

    GEORGE TOWN: A senior citizen who was assaulted by three assailants in Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling last Friday has died in Penang Hospital.
    Northeast district police chief ACP Mior Faridalatrash Wahid confirmed the 64-year-old man, Kam Theam Siew, was pronounced dead in hospital on Sunday.
    "The cause of death is severe head injury due to blunt trauma," he said in a brief statement.
    He said the man was attacked by unidentified suspects at about 3.55pm on Friday and police rushed to the scene after being alerted that the victim was lying on the ground.
    He added police were still probing the motive for the incident, adding that police were looking for the suspects involved to facilitate investigations.
    The case is being investigated for murder under the Penal Code.
