Drug distribution line disrupted, 8 nabbed

IPOH: Police smashed a drug distribution line and a processing laboratory with the arrest of eight men in three separate raids here on Friday.
They also seized 7.076 kg of heroin and 1.275 kg of syabu, with a street value of RM420,000, as well as eight cars and a ring, worth a total of RM500,000, and RM25,940.
The operation was carried out by the Special Tactical Intelligence Narcotic Group (STING) and Perak Narcotics personnel.
Perak police chief Datuk Osman Salleh said several processing and packing equipment were found.
"The drugs were to be distributed to other states and not meant for local consumption," he told reporters here today.
In the first raid at 3pm, a police team arrested three men in a house at Bandar Lahat Mines, and recovered 7.076kg of heroin and 709 grammes of syabu.
In the second raid at 4.30pm on the same day, police detained a man in a store in the city and seized several drug processing equipment.
Osman said follow-up operations led to the arrest of four more men here and the seizure of 566 grammes of syabu.
The men, aged between 25 and 49, have been remanded and are being investigated under the Dangerous Drug Act, 1952.
