JOHOR BARU: The Taman Sri Puteri bus terminal in Jalan Skudai here, which had been operating for the past 15 years, will terminate its operations effective April 1.
Central Johor Baru Municipal Council (MPJBT) president Salehuddin Hassan said it was due to traffic congestion caused by the bus terminal in the area.
"The bus terminal is the main route area for the Jalan Skudai-Johor Baru and apart from causing traffic jams it also poses many risks including accidents," he told reporters, here, today.
However, ticket sales counter at the bus terminal will be allowed to operate as usual until March 1 to enable ticket buyers and the public to be informed about the closure, Salehuddin said.
Following the Taman Sri Puteri bus terminal closure, MPJBT had improved the Taman Universiti bus terminal infrastructure with a cost of nearly RM1.5 million, he said. – Bernama
