PETALING JAYA: A Muslim NGO has denied converting non-Muslims who accepted free copies of the Quran from them.
The Malaysia Reverted Muslim (MRM, formerly known as the Malaysia Chinese Muslim) said in a posting on its Facebook page that the message circulating with two pictures on Whatsapp were untrue.
"We in MRM strongly deny the false accusation and we will lodge a police report soon on this matter," the group said in its posting.
The viral message alleged that copies of the Quran were distributed in Teluk Pulai, Klang and warned people not to accept it.
The message urged people not to accept the free copies of the Quran, because they would have to fill up a form for record purposes, and this information would be used to track them down and convert them or change their records stating that they were Muslims.
The message added that the Quran is the holy book of the Muslims and "it is not to be touched by others".
The message which has been circulating via social media had two photographs attached to it, including a picture of a van allegedly used to distribute the holy book.
