Four armed men rob Indian High Commission's RM25,000 cash proceeds

KUALA LUMPUR: Four men armed with a pistol and a machete managed to make off with RM25,000 in cash proceeds belonging to the Indian High Commission in Mont Kiara here today.
In the 11am incident, the accounts officer and head of security of the Indian High Commission were waiting with the money for the driver in front of the lobby of Menara 1Mont Kiara when they were approached by four men on two motorcycles.
Kuala Lumpur CID chief, SAC Zainuddin Ahmad said a struggle ensued between the men and the two victims but the perpetrators managed to escape with the RM25,000 cash.
Zainuddin said police had studied the closed-circuit camera (CCTV) at the scene and found the suspects wearing full-face helmets, t-shirt, jeans, black jackets.
The registration numbers of the suspects' motorcycles could also not be ascertained, he said.
"Police also found a pistol magazine (which must have fallen during the struggle) suspected to be a counterfeit one with no bullets found in it," he said.
He said it was a daily routine for the High Commission to deposit the cash proceeds in a bank in the capital. – Bernama
