Ringgit eases against US dollar

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit was lower compared to the US dollar in late trading today, as the greenback rebounded in most overseas markets due to stronger buying support, a currency trader said.
At 5pm, the local currency ended at 3.6030/5050 against the greenback versus 3.5825/5855 at Thursday's close.
The dollar was traded higher against most emerging Asian currencies as US durable goods orders increased more than expected in January, while core inflation was higher than expected.
The ringgit was traded mixed against other major currencies. The local unit declined against the Singapore dollar to 2.6532/6562 from Thursday's 2.6515/6544 and appreciated against the British pound to 5.5436/5481 from 5.5597/5665.
It eased against the yen to 3.0204/0223 from 3.0168/0201 yesterday but was better against the euro at 4.0418/0448 from 4.0672/0717. – Bernama
