Najib visits Medan Niaga Satok, delivers compassionate aid to flood victims

    KUCHING: Thousands of visitors and traders at the Medan Niaga Satok were excited at the presence of national number one leader Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak who took the opportunity to visit them this morning before concluding his three-day working visit to Sarawak.
    In the midst of the throng of people buying vegetables and fish, the Prime Minister, accompanied by Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem, Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Alfred Jabu and other Sarawak Government ministers, shook hands and exchanged pleasantries with members of the public.
    At the food court of the market, also known as Benteng Medan Selera, Najib handed over compassionate aid to 20 of the 170 victims of the recent floods, from five surrounding villages.
    They were residents of Kampung Gita Laut, Kampung Gita Baru/Lama, Kampung Pinang Jawa, Kampung Tupong Jaya, and Kampung Tupong Tengah here who were affected by the recent floods.
    The Prime Minister and his entourage then tasted Sarawak's famous fares such as Mee Kolok, Laksa Sarawak, Kek lapis and others for breakfast before taking their leave.
    Najib and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor who departed from the Kuching International Airport this morning, is scheduled to be in Labuan for a working visit in the afternoon, before leaving for the national capital this evening. – Bernama
