PETALING JAYA: Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, congratulated the students who achieved remarkable results in last year's Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) examination.
Muhyiddin, who is also the Education Minister, commended the achievement of these students who also helped to achieve great improvement compared to the 2013 statistics.
"Congratulations to the 41,915 students who passed the examinations, especially the 408 students who achieved all As in every subject," he said in a statement today.
"Overall, I am very proud of the results achieved for last year's STPM which showed an improvement, not only in terms of the percentage of passed students, but also the increase of the national Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) which rose from 2.57 in 2013 to 2.62 in 2014," he said.
Muhyiddin said the achievement was made possible by the efforts of the ministry through the Malaysian Education Development Plan, especially in transforming and strengthening Form 6 education.
"Changes made to the STPM assessment system also played a role as a catalyst for schools to improve their performance," he said.
He also said that the achievement has shown that the academic gap between urban and rural areas, has also been reduced.
"This indicates the expansion and effectiveness of the education system, as well as plans put in place by the ministry, which have succeeded in providing quality education to all layers of life," he said.
He advised those who did not pass, to go on and achieve remarkable results and to never give up and continue to further improve themselves.
