China nationals not top Iskandar property buyers
JOHOR BARU: State Tourism, Domestic Trade and Consumerism executive committee chairman Datuk Tee Siew Kiong, refuted claims that the Iskandar region is dominated by China national buyers.
He said: "What I can say is that the approved housing for them is just about 10% of the total in the Iskandar region."
He said Singaporeans are the main buyers of the luxury housing units, not China nationals.
He was replying to a question after he held a press conference on tourism events here.
Foreigners bought 7,830 property units last year, an increase of 1,006 units or 13% compared to 6,824 units in 2013.
China nationals bought 2,078 units in 2014, an increase of 477% when compared to 436 units purchased in 2013.
Overall, Singaporeans topped the list of buyers with 4,314 units last year.
However, it was a drop of 20% when compared to purchases during 2013.
