Inspiring others to be fit

SHE talks for a living. She's a radio jock, emcee, and an actress (film and theatre). For someone who does so much in a day, Linora Low is a prime example of one who refuses to make excuses when it comes to staying healthy and insists on making time to train at least once a day without fail, whether it's intense training or just a short circuit regimen.
Strength, comes in various forms, from being able to do 90kg dead lifts to being able to stay motivated and disciplined in one's cause.
Low's source of motivation comes not only from wanting to achieve her goals but also wanting to inspire people in different ways, whether it's for fitness or by accompanying you in your car rides from 10am to 1pm daily on Mix FM.
The 31-year-old does not flaunt a typical feminine figure and she is right to say that "it is just unfortunate that everybody will judge what you look like". Instead of mulling over her insecurities and wallowing in self-pity, the sprightly personality turned to fitness because "if I can't be like the "perfect woman" on magazines, I'll just be strong".
How do you inspire people?
It really starts with you first that's why I always keep motivating myself. I have to do it for me then it will show because as long as you concentrate on making yourself a better person that you are, it will also inspire others.
How do you get pumped to work out?
I always listen to a mixture of motivational speakers before I start, like Greg Plitt, who sadly passed away very recently. One very memorable quote from him is that "If you think you are burnt out mentally and physically, you should go to a hospital and take a look at all the people who are wanting to do more than their bodies allow them to and then come back and you tell me, when you have two capable legs, you can't even push yourself!?"
"If you think you're going to get a body that's fantastic and healthy without hardwork, NO, you are not going to."
Another one that gets me is the famous quote from the Rocky Balboa movie that tells you to just keep getting up and moving forward.
Is there an ultimate body you want to achieve?
Yes, the best body that I can get.
It's very individual because in the end it is really up to you whether you think it is the best that it is. It's really to make sure you can get your body to be in the best way for you.
But I also want to have my abs pop out again by this year (grins).
What's your cheat day like?
Cheat meal. You are not supposed to have a cheat day.
Once your butt get off the chair, you don't touch any of the stuff anymore (laughs)! I was training hard and followed a proper clean eating programme (strictly no sugar, lean meat, vegetables and eggs) for a whole month and when my coach finally gave me the green light, I went bad. I had Burger King together with the fries and a giant Coke, Lays chips, a few Gummy Bears, a cupcake, three pieces of Cadbury chocolate, frozen yoghurt.
Yup, all in one seating. That was because I was on a strict regimen. On any other day, I don't suggest you ban yourself because when you get a little taste you might lose control. Now my cheat meals are either a cupcake or a burger (giggles).
The fiery mane. What's the story?
I first dyed my hair pink doing my first movie playing a character called Gincu. After that I just wanted to have red hair and I've had it for as long as my radio jock career – four years. I like the colour and then, I just wanted to be different and it has become like a trademark of mine. "Just look for the redhead!"
If you were to change the colour?
No I don't think I will but if I do it would be blue but my hairstylist highly discourages it. He said he would have to bleach my hair again and my hair can't take the damage. It's so bad that, even now, if I don't do treatment it's going to be like "beehoon" he said (laughs).
