KUALA LANGAT: "A year has passed since (Malaysia Airlines) Flight MH370 vanished but I have no news to share with my five-year-old grandson on the fate of his father who was on board the ill-fated aircraft on March 8 (last year)," said G. Subramanian.

The father of S. Puspanathan, one of the passengers on MH370, said he is going through tough times to explain Puspanathan's absence to his son, Harish Varman.

"Now a year has passed, Harish still believes his mother's explanation that his father is away on business.

"But we can't continue doing this as I believe he is already matured enough to understand the actual situation," said a distraught Subramanian, 61, when met by reporters at his residence at Taman Dato Hormat, Teluk Panglima Garang near here.

Puspanathan, 35, who was working for a private company as a marketing manager, was among the 239 passengers and crew members on board the aircraft which vanished on March 8, 2014 while en route to Beijing from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
The government has officially declared that the missing of MH370 was an accident under international aviation rules, and that all 239 passengers and crew aboard are presumed to have lost their lives.

Puspanathan, who is married to K. Sri Devi, has another two-year-old son.

Commenting further, Subramanian, who was born in Carey Island Estate, Kuala Langat and is now working as a part-time security guard, said he recollects past memories he had had with his son whenever a flight passes over his house.

"We are still hopeful that Puspanathan will come back one day though we are kept in the dark over his faith," said Subramanian, who could not hold back his tears.

Subramanian, who is married to A. Amirtham, 61, said he also had to call off the wedding of his daughter, Thenmoly, 27, which was supposed to take place in January 2015 due to the flight tragedy. – Bernama
