PUTRAJAYA: The Auditor-General's Department has started its investigation on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) following order from the cabinet to scrutinise the state-owned investment arm account last week.
Auditor-General Tan Sri Ambrin Buang said the department has started with the process of gathering as much information as possible to assist the investigation.
He also said that the audit would not exclude anyone from its investigation, including calling up Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak if necessary.
He said he has met with 1MDB chief executive officer Arul Kanda recently and the latter gave his assurance to cooperate with the investigation.
"We are hoping those who are related with the investigation will give their full cooperation whenever necessary," he said.
"The audit will be done transparently and professionally," he told a press conference at the department's building here.
