GEORGE TOWN: Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said the late Lee Kuan Yew was renowned for his eloquence and sharp wit in his more than 60 years of public life and had successfully transformed the tiny nation state.
Lim, who is also DAP secretary-general, also described Lee as a "moderniser par excellence" who relied on human capital and good governance centred on fighting out corruption.
Lim recalled hosting Lee at the state's administrative centre in Komtar when the former prime minister visited this country six years ago.
"He was still a dynamic thinker with trenchant arguments and clear in his vision at that age," he added.
Meanwhile in SINGAPORE, Bernama reports that the republic's National Museum is to hold a month-long memorial exhibition as a tribute to Lee.
The "In Memoriam: Lee Kuan Yew" exhibition will be on from today until April 26 at the Glass Atrium on the second level of the museum, said a joint statement of the National Heritage Board and National Museum of Singapore.
It will be open daily, from 10am to 8pm, and admission is free.
