PETALING JAYA: Five masked men armed with parang broke into the home of Selangor Speaker Hannah Yeoh's parents at about 10am today.
"Five masked men with parang just robbed my parents' house in USJ.
"Dad and brother were tied up @KBAB 51," the Selangor state assembly speaker tweeted on her twitter account @hannahyeoh.
The tweet post was directed to @KBAB51, the twitter account Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar which he usually uses to issue immediate investigation orders.
"These men wore gloves and ski masks. My mother, maid, grandaunt and niece were all forced to cover their heads with a blanket while the man ransacked the entire house for about 15-20 minutes," she posted on Facebook.
She was thankful that none of her family members were injured in the incident.
Meanwhile, Subang Jaya police chief ACP Yahaya Ramli confirmed the incident in a statement.
"Supt Tan Ah Chua and some personnel from the Subang Jaya station rushed to the scene at 11am," he said.
The robbers escaped with about RM8,000, jewellery and five boxes of bird cages.
"The victims managed to untie themselves and contacted the police," Yahaya added.
Yahaya also pointed out that the residential area where the incident happened is a gated community with security guard on duty.
The case is being investigated under Section 395 and 397 of the Penal Code for robbery.
Khalid has been an active user of social media compared to his predecessors who were not into social media to provide police investigation updates.
