Man, son burnt to death in fire at furniture factory

    KOTA KINABALU: A man and his son were burnt to death in a fire at a furniture factory and two sofa-repairing factories in Mogonibong, Bahang, Penampang, according to the Penampang Fire and Rescue Department.
    The dead were Yewn Chai Hwe, 63, believed to be the owner of the furniture factory, and his son, Yewn Min Kok, 34, a person with disabilities, said its operations officer, senior fire officer 2 Jaree Mohd.
    He said Chai Hwe's body was found in a toilet and Min Kok's, on the floor of the furniture factory.
    Jaree said the department was notified about the fire at about 4am and rushed 24 officers and men in four trucks, two of which were from the Kota Kinabalu fire station.
    He said the cause of the fire and damage had yet to be ascertained. – Bernama
