MPK gets RM100m for road resurfacing work

    KLANG: A total of RM100 million has been allocated to Klang Municipal Council (MPK) for road resurfacing work in Klang area this year, MPK president Datuk Mohammad Yacob said the allocation from Malaysian Road Records Information System (Marris) will be used for road resurfacing work which will be carried out in stages throughout the year.
    "For now 92 roads have been identified and contractors have already been appointed to start work on 45 roads," Mohammad said during a press conference after MPK's full board meeting today.
    Mohammad added that for the first phase a total of RM42.4 million will be spent on resurfacing the 45 roads.
    "This year, we are very serious with the road resurfacing project and we want all the contractors to follow the specifications that we have set out, "If any contractor fails to follow our specifications, we will take action against them," he added.
    Mohammad also said that the funds allocated by Marris will also be used to repair the drains and also for tree-planting projects in the Klang area.
