Woman sent to jail for attempting to give support to IS

    KUALA LUMPUR: A woman was sentenced to two years' jail by the High Court here today after she pleaded guilty to a charge of attempting to give support to a member of the so-called IS militant group by marrying him.
    Judge Kamardin Hashim handed down the sentence on Ummi Khalsom Bahak, 26, who changed her plea to guilty to an alternative charge when the case came up for mention today.
    She was ordered to serve the sentence from the date of her arrest on Oct 5 last year.
    The woman was then taken to the Kajang Prison.
    It is learnt that Ummi Khalsom, formerly an assistant credit officer, is the first local woman to be sentenced to prison for an offence involving the IS. – Bernama
