KUALA LUMPUR: Construction of the Kuala Lumpur-Putrajaya (MEX) Highway exit in Seri Kembangan is now 70% completed, said Deputy Works Minister Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin.
She said works on the RM112 million multi-level interchange project started in December 2013 and was expected to be completed by December this year.
"On the toll rates at the exit it will be announced by the government upon completion of the project," she said when replying to Dr Ong Kian Ming (DAP-Serdang) who wanted to know the status of the construction and toll rates to be imposed, in the Dewan Rakyat sitting here, today.
The multi-level interchange provides access from Jalan Putra Permai for road users to travel to Putrajaya via MEX in a much shorter time compared to the previous 17km route to the highway.
On Ong's proposal to not charge toll, Rosnah said the decision on toll rates could only be finalised by the government when the project was completed.
Replying to a supplementary question raised by Anuar Abd Manap (BN-Sekijang) on the land acquisition cost of RM20 million, she said it was sufficient as the cost was only for that purpose and did not include cost of highway structure construction. – Bernama
