KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit ended higher against the US dollar for the second consecutive day today in tandem with most regional currencies on improved risk appetite.
At 5pm, the ringgit was quoted at 3.6975/6005 against the greenback compared with 3.7020/7050 on Tuesday.
A dealer said fresh buying sentiment for the ringgit and other regional currencies was mainly aided by the stronger manufacturing sector in China, whose Purchasing Managers' Index rose to 50.1 in March from 49.9 in February.
However, investors remained cautious over the release of the US non-farm payrolls data on Friday.
The ringgit also closed mostly higher against other major currencies.
It declined against the Singapore dollar to 2.7003/7029 from 2.6908/6936 on Tuesday and was higher against the yen at 3.0738/0771 from yesterday's 3.0809/0844.
The local note gained against the British pound to 5.4568/4627 from 5.4645/4704 yesterday and strengthened against the euro to 3.9674/9717 from 3.9697/9736. – Bernama
